Peter Hujar's Day with guest Ira Sachs—Treasures from the Yale Film Archive
Ira Sachs in person! New print! On a winter day in ‘74, photographer Peter Hujar (Ben Whishaw) recounts the meetings, conversations, passing observations, and artistic obsessions that make up his life in downtown New York. Drawn from a recorded conversation with writer Linda Rosenkrantz (Rebecca Hall), Sachs’s intimate two-hander transforms the ordinary rhythms of a single day into a vivid portrait of an artist and his long-gone milieu. “A charming experiment that should delight those who like their pleasures both nostalgic and voyeuristic” (Jeannette Catsoulis). 35mm print made with thanks to Janus Films.
