Petals & Paws: An Autumn Equinox Garden Celebration with Dogs

Welcome the first day of autumn with your four-legged best friend in the beauty of one of Salem's most magnificent gardens.

Our celebration begins with a walk through Salem’s Derby Garden as Grace Harrington Murdoch of Flowers & Stars shares the history of the space, the plants that thrive here, and the timeless role of botanicals in healing and seasonal rituals.

At the exact moment of balance between light and dark (2:19 PM), Grace will guide a one-of-a-kind equinox celebration for dogs and their humans:

• Each pup will be adorned with an autumn floral collar.
• Each guest will receive a matching floral crown to wear..
• Guests will anoint their dogs with a calming flower essence prepared by Grace, along with a blessing to promote balance, health, and joy.
• Together, we’ll step off for a joyful Equinox Parade Lap through the garden.

After we welcome the equinox, pups and their humans will be photographed wearing their floral collars and crowns together against the stunning backdrop of the garden. Each participant will also take home their floral essence as well as a calming crystal for themselves and their pet, a token of balance and harmony to carry forward after the event. To close, we’ll gather for fall treats for both humans and pups!
