About :
Birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement, the Sweet Auburn Historic District is crumbling. Since its designation as a Historic Landmark District in 1976, 47% of its buildings have been lost. Civil Sights, an illustrated guide, tells the stories of the people and places that shaped this crucial period in history, inspiring readers to take an active role in preserving this legacy. The future of our civil rights history is not guaranteed. Let's work together to ensure future generations can fully experience and learn from this vital piece of our past.
Schedule:
- 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: View the MODA exhibit, CHARACTERS: Type in Action, which investigates the intersection of typography, civil rights, and social justice.
- 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM: Lunch (on us) and engaging conversation!
Don't miss this opportunity to enrich your understanding of design's role in shaping our world, human rights, and representation!
