Led by NBC Late Night Writers’ Workshop alum Nick Jack Pappas, this class will help you:
- learn techniques that blend current events with humor
- understand how to navigate the fast-paced world of late-night comedy, and
- hone your skills in creating content that resonates.

This workshop consists of one two-hour session. To give you the best experience, there are only 5 spots available (with 5 going to members of GOLD Comedy). We'll continue to add more as needed, too!
You will learn:
- How to craft up-to-the-minute monologue jokes
- How to dream up and describe desk bits
- How to generate jokes on your own and sharpen them based on feedback
- What's involved in preparing a packet and how packets vary from show to show
You will leave with:
- An understanding of this whole writing for late night thing works
- The tools and skills to prep or perfect your first or next packet
- Access to updates on available packets and other opportunities

Meet your instructor:
Nick Jack Pappas is a TV and screenplay writer currently working at Apple TV+.
Chosen for the NBC Late Night Writers’ Workshop, he has also crafted one-liners for celebrities, awards shows, and presidential hopefuls (who all lost!).
His pilot "Party Mansion” was a quarterfinalist in The Script Lab's Free Screenplay Contest 2022 and a second-rounder in Launch Pad's Pilot Competition 2022. His interstellar dark
comedy, "Space Bar,” was a semifinalist in the Outstanding Screenplays TV Pilot Competition, made the quarterfinals of the Filmmatic Sci-Fi/Fantasy Awards, and landed
in the quarterfinals of the Big Break Screenwriting Contest.
Nick's work has been published in The Washington Post, Vulture, Buzzfeed, and Teen Vogue. As the humor columnist for Toastmasters, he taught public speakers the fine art of
turning their speeches into something memorable.
As part of the sketch team "Yes, Chef," Nick wrote on UCB's Maude for two years and performed at the Montreal Sketchfest in May 2022. He was also part of an all-POC writers' room for the pilot "Passport Control with Mehdi Barakchian.”
