Percussion on the Rock - Festival of Global Traditions

Come join us for a unique performance that blends Global and Western percussion ensemble music. You’ll hear powerful rhythms and intricate patterns that are at the heart of both traditions.

This concert wraps up the Percussion on the Rock (POTR) workshop, where students and musicians get to showcase what they’ve been working on. The POTR faculty includes Dr. Patrick Roulet from Western Washington University, James Culley from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and Percussion Group Cincinnati, Erica Montgomery from the U.S. Air Force Band and Whidbey's Saratoga Orchestra, and Mark Stone and Roger Braun, two prominent percussionists and educators who frequently collaborate on global music and traditional East and West percussion. They are best known for their work with the Biakuye Percussion Group and their educational residencies involving the embaire (a massive Ugandan xylophone).

Program to include music by Carlos Chávez, Andy Akiho, Morten Lauridsen and others.
