About this Event
Join the for "People Planet Profit: Marketing Sustainability," an event designed to empower local food and drink businesses to authentically communicate and market their sustainability efforts to their customers.
This event is part of our People Planet Profit series, a collaboration with the Food Drink Devon Sustainability Working Group to support the local sustainable food and drink sector in Devon.
The day will consist of three interactive workshop sessions led by experts in communications and marketing who will share their knowledge and practical strategies you can implement:
- Sustainability as a selling point for your food business - Julia Kirby Smith, Better Food Traders
- How to use PR to spotlight your sustainable business and reach the right audience - Harry Hook, Raw Food and Drink PR
- Focus on digital marketing - Lisa Lessware, Digital Link
In addition to these workshops, there will be opportunity to ask questions, network with likeminded businesses, and learn more about the Devon Food Partnership. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
This event is aimed at food and drink businesses, but anyone with an interest in marketing food and drink sustainability is welcome.
About the speakers:
Julia Kirby-Smith is Exec Director of Better Food Traders, a non-profit CIC working to improve sustainability in the food system, by building routes to market and increasing sales of food that is better for people and the planet. BFT supports ethical food traders with training, peer-learning and advice, they run coordinated public awareness campaigns, they work with local authorities and regional food partnerships, and they push for policy change to support the sustainable food sector.
Harry Hook is a food and drink communications specialist with a passion for helping brands thrive. Through RAW Food and Drink PR, she works with some of the industryโs leading names, delivering expert PR, copywriting and recipe development. A Guild of Food Writers member with a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma, Harry also shares her knowledge by running digital marketing workshops at Exeter University, inspiring the next generation of food and drink innovators.
Lisa Lessware is a passionate advocate for sustainable business and innovation. As the exited co-founder of The Bshirt, a circular fashion brand, she grew an ethical e-commerce business that balanced success with family life, becoming one of the first 1,000 UK businesses to achieve B Corp certification. Now, as a Digital Business Advisor with the Heart of the South West Growth Hub, Lisa empowers SMEs to embrace digital solutions and drive sustainable growth.
