The Mystic & Noank Library is thrilled to announce a letter-writing partnership with the Nottingham Central Library, in Nottingham, England, UK.
For all those interested in reviving the art of letter writing or enjoying having a penpal of their very own, this is your chance!
The idea is simple – write an introductory letter and drop it in our Pen Pal Mailbox before the stated collection date. The library will send all the letters we receive to Nottingham where the patrons there will receive our letters and respond. Letters will be sent once per month. After you “meet” your penpal, you will write your follow up letters and drop them in our Pen Pal Mailbox before the next collection date. And, if you want more than one penpal, that’s perfectly okay. Just write another introductory letter and wait for a reply. The library will supply all the necessary paper, pens, envelopes, etc., as well as postage. Of course, if you want to get creative, you’re more than welcome to add some personal touches to your letters.
We will mail the first batch of letters on February 23, so get your introductions ready and let’s have some fun making new friends “across the pond!”
