Discover the magic of creativity and family fun at the 40th annual Summer Art Festival, where PenMet Parks’ picturesque Sehmel Homestead Park sets the stage for a vibrant celebration of artistic expression.
The landmark 40th year promises to be the festival's best yet, drawing an incredible response from the local arts community. This year's free, family-friendly community event features:
- Over 100 Emerging and Returning Artists: Sharing their creations and the stories behind them across every imaginable medium — from basketry, ceramics, fiber arts, garden art, glass art, jewelry, metal art, and mosaic, to painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and woodworking.
- The Peninsula Art League Summer Member Art Show: Hosted inside the park's Vern Volunteer Pavilion.
- Creative Art Activities for Children: Including the PenMet Parks Kids’ Corner and Playground, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Kiwanis art booth, Snapology, and face painting along with airbrush tattoos!
- Live Music & Refreshments: Two days of musical performances provided by Kimball Coffeehouse alongside a variety of mouth-watering food options and beverage refreshments.
- NEWLY EXPANDED Community Arts in the Field: Showcasing local arts groups such as the Gig Harbor Film Festival, Gig Harbor Open Studio Tour, and Ghostlight Performing Arts.
- Literary Corner: Hosted by the Greater Gig Harbor Literary Society (GGHLS) featuring regional authors.
- Park Amenities: Full access to trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas for a full day of family-friendly fun.
