1.Derby is Open to Children Ages 2-15
2.Children are required to bring their own fishing rods; bait and any other fishing supplies they’ll need for the Derby.
3.June 6th is a free fishing day as determined by the State. Fishing licenses are not necessary on this date. All NJ State fishing rules and regulations apply please visit the following website for more information: https://dep.nj.gov/njfw/
4.Parents are responsible for their children at all times. Life vests are highly recommended for younger children even if they are fishing from the shore. If fishing by boat, state regulations apply.
5.Restrooms for public use at the:
-Country Lakes Firehouse: (103 Firehouse Road, Browns Mills)
-Presidential Lakes Beach Building: (10 Maryland Trail, Browns Mills)
6.Fishing is allowed in Pemberton Township Lakes & Beaches. Fishing by boat is also permitted. State & Local rules and regulations must be followed.
7.Weigh-in Stations and Event Staff will be available at each location:
-Reflections Park (19 South Lakeshore Drive, Browns Mills)
-Country Lakes (Spring Lake Beach Park, Browns Mills)
-Presidential Lakes Beach (10 Maryland Trail, Browns Mills)
8.Age Groups: Ages 2-4: Any type/size of fish can be entered. Fish will be measured by weight and length.
State fishing regulations apply.
9.Age Groups: Ages 5-8: Any type of fish can be entered. Fish will be measured by weight and length.
State fishing regulations apply.
10.Age Groups: Ages 9-11: Any type of fish can be entered. Fish will be measured by weight and length.
State fishing regulations apply.
11.Age Groups: Ages 12-15: Any type of fish can be entered. Fish will be measured by weight and length.
State fishing regulations apply.
12.Every effort should be made to keep fish alive. After catching a fish, bring it to a weigh-in station immediately. After measurement and weigh-in, the fish should be released back into the water. (This is a CATCH & RELEASE derby)
13.Derby Prizes (one win per child):
1st Place Prizes- Awarded to the winner in each age group who caught the biggest fish
2nd Place Prizes- Awarded to the runner-up in each age group
3rd Place Prizes- Awarded to the second runner-up in each age group
Most Fish Caught- Awarded to the child in either age group who catches the most fish
Smallest Fish- Awarded to the child who catches the smallest fish
Sportsman Award- Awarded to one lucky participant in memory of Ray Shepard chosen by Shepard Family
Chiefs Awards- Awarded to one lucky participant chosen by each the Police Chief & Fire Chief
Minnow Award - Awarded to the youngest registered participant (chosen by birthday listed on registration)
Hooked on Fishing Award – Awarded to one lucky participant randomly chosen by the Township Alliance Group
Conservationist Award – Awarded to one lucky participant showing the best catch and release techniques
Coloring Contest – Award to one lucky winner of each age category (Winner announced 1 week from event)
14.Schedule:
7am- 11:45am: Fishing!
8am-12pm: Weigh-in Stations Open
12:15pm: Free Lunch
1pm: Prizes Presentations, Snacks and Goodie Bags at the Country Lakes Firehouse
