About this Event
Together, we’ll celebrate and share what’s been achieved through the first three years of the Creating Hope with Peer Support project, and look ahead at what’s needed to ensure peer support continues to grow as a vital part of suicide prevention in Scotland.
Expect a day full of energy, connection and learning, where you’ll hear directly from peer groups and services across the country. Following the Creating Hope with Peer Support Pathway, we’ll explore:
- Connect – how peer support brings people together and builds understanding
- Explore – how peer approaches can transform how we prevent suicide
- Hope – the difference peer support makes to people affected by suicide
- Support – what’s needed to keep peer support growing and influencing Scotland’s approach to suicide prevention
Launching on the day
We’re excited to launch the Creating Hope with Peer Support report, celebrating three years of the project and the people who make it possible. This milestone honours peer workers, community groups, and organisations collaborating to create connections, share knowledge, and strengthen peer support in their communities.
We’ll also be premiering a brand-new film created in partnership with , , , and . The film shines a light on the vital role of peer support in suicide prevention while also challenging common misconceptions.
Contributions from amazing people
Our workshops, speed presentations and fireside chats will have contributions from SAMH (Fife), and with more organisations being announced soon!
will share art work from their peer support project and exhibition which explores the the Scottish Mental Health theme of Comfort/Disturb. The Peer Support Quilt created by Inverclyde will also be on show.
And not forgetting our team of Curious Listeners who will take part throughout the day and later sit down with Tom Arthur, Minister for Social Care and Mental Wellbeing, to share what they’ve learned and the actions needed to support stronger peer-led change.
We want you to leave feeling hopeful, inspired and part of what comes next.
