The idea is simple: collect food and do it on a bike. The rules are minimal: be safe and have fun. The cause is an excellent one, and on Saturday, November 15, 2025 cyclists of all ages and abilities will gather to collect food for Upstate Food Not Bombs.

Cranksgiving is a combination alley-cat race and scavenger hunt, with participants pedaling throughout the city to visit area stores and collect holiday food items from a secret list. In an alley-cat race, cyclists can choose whatever route they want (streets, bike paths, alleys) to get to where they’re going. The list, or ‘Manifest’ is a collaboration between event organizers and a local charity, comprised of non-perishable food items and basic personal items.

Cyclists complete the ride by returning to the starting point within the time allotment. Bonuses may be given out for solving puzzles and collecting specific food items. No experience necessary, all ages and proficiencies on a bike are welcome.

The past few years participants have raved about this fun competition and raised hundreds of pounds of food to donate towards Harvest Hope and Upstate Food Not Bombs! We are looking forward to seeing everyone this year and having another great turnout!

The Details

When: Saturday, November 15th, 2025

Where: Start and End Location is Pedego Electric Bikes Greenville located at Hampton Station - 1320 Hampton Ave Ext. STE 11A, Greenville, SC 29601. (Google Maps and Apple Maps work best for directions to Hampton Station.)

Registration: Starts at 11:15am. Riders will all start at 12:00pm and must be back at Pedego Electric Bikes Greenville by 3:00pm.

What do I need? All that is needed is a bike, a bag or backpack, a bike lock and $15-$25 to buy food. There is no entry fee. Bike helmets are mandatory. Organizers encourage riders to bring layers of clothing, extra snacks, and plenty of water to make sure they stay safe while out cranking.

Info: All participants must check in at the registration table to sign a waiver, collect their number, manifest, rules, and get any other details about the ride.

Info: Registered riders will be released to start their cranking. This will be the official start time of the event.

Info: All riders must be checked back in at the registration table by 3:00pm sharp. Riders will take a selfie photo at the finish line to prove they were back before 3:00pm. (It may take time to check everyone back in if there is a surge at the end.)
