Known around the world as "Napalm Girl," Kim Phuc Phan Ti was immortalized in a Pulitzer-winning photograph in 1972 during the Vietnam War. She will accept Randolph's Pearl S. Buck Award—given to women who exemplify the ideals, values, and commitments of Buck, a member of the Class of 1914, and the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Once a living symbol of the atrocities of war, for nearly 30 years Phuc has been a UNESCO goodwill ambassador for the Culture of Peace and is the founder and president of The KIM Foundation International, a nonprofit dedicated to helping child-victims of war, violence, and poverty.
She will be joined by Nick Ut, who took the iconic photograph, during the event, which includes a book signing.
