Peace Promise Consulting, Attachment Theory: An Introduction.

The question of how we have come to be who we are is one that fascinates most of us. A related question concerns how we, as parents, can determine the best way to raise our children.For the last half century, the prominent theory that addresses both of these questions is Attachment Theory. It is based on the belief that emotional bonds we form, especially those formed during our earliest years, have a profound effect on our lives: our emotional life, our ability to make relationships, and our sense of self. This workshop will provide an introduction to Attachment Theory. We will talk about types of early attachment and how they manifest in children. We will also talk about the roots of attachment theory, as well as its relationship other theories of development. Finally, we will pay attention to how we are affected as adults, how our early attachments manifest in our lives today.
