Canaveral National Seashore | New Smyrna Beach, FL
About this Event
This field trip will explore the Turtle Mound area of Canaveral National Seashore. We will check out plants along the boardwalk and also some other spots in the vicinity. There are numerous south Florida plants found here at or near the northern limits of their range.
Sonya Guidry has arranged for us to enter on an educational pass, so no entry fee will be required. We will meet at 9am at JB's Fish Camp, about a mile north on the CNS entrance to consolidate vehicles. Those travelling from the western or northern parts of the county may also want to make their own carpool arrangements to get to JB's.
To get to the Canaveral National Seashore (Apollo Beach entrance) from New Smyrna Beach, head south on A1A.
Bring water, sun protection & insect repellent and wear appropriate clothing for exploring.
For those who are interested, following the field trip we will have lunch at JB's Fish Camp, a Florida-style waterside restaurant on the Mosquito Lagoon. JB's address is 859 Pompano Ave., New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169
You will be required to sign a standard FNPS waiver to participate in this field trip.
