Patton Veterans Project 'I Was There' Film Screening - Coos Bay

EVENT OVERVIEW:

The Patton Veterans Project (PVP) invites the community to a special screening event at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Coos Bay, Oregon, featuring powerful short films created by veterans during the PVP “I Was There” Film Workshop held May 1-3, 2026 at Siuslaw Outreach Services / Siuslaw Area Resource Center in Florence, Oregon.

These original films were written, directed, filmed, and produced by veterans working side-by-side with professional filmmakers to tell meaningful stories inspired by military service, resilience, transition, humor, healing, and human connection.

This free public screening offers the community an opportunity to experience authentic veteran storytelling through film while connecting with local veterans, military families, and supporters.

Following the screening, guests are invited to stay for a meet-and-greet reception with the filmmakers, instructors, and fellow attendees.

• Led by Benjamin Patton, grandson of WWII General George S. Patton Jr., and a team of professional film instructors, Patton Veterans Project’s free 3-day “I Was There” Film Workshops help veterans learn the art of filmmaking while building connection, camaraderie, and creative purpose alongside fellow veterans.

Through these workshops and community screenings, PVP helps bridge understanding between veterans, military families, and the communities they live in.
