Pattern Making with Powders - Anthony Amoaka-Attah
What if glass could look and feel like woven cloth?
Spend four immersive days with award-winning glass artist Dr Anthony Amoako-Attah, exploring his distinctive approach to pattern, screen-printing and kilnformed glass.
Anthony is known for transforming glass into intricate, textile-like works inspired by Ghanaian Kente cloth and Adinkra symbols. In this hands-on masterclass, you’ll develop your own patterns and learn how to translate them into glass using screen-printing techniques with glass powders and enamels.
Experiment with pattern, colour and layering; develop designs both freehand and digitally; explore different approaches to screen-printing; and learn the kiln-firing processes needed to bring your work together.
Alongside the technical skills, Anthony will share the ideas behind his practice and the cultural significance of Kente patterns and Adinkra symbolism — opening up new ways to think about pattern, identity and storytelling through glass.
