Celebrate the Nation's 250th Anniversary with the Mandarin Community Club!

Join your neighbors at the Mandarin Community Club’s Patriotic Picnic, a heartfelt community celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary. This special event will take place on Flag Day, Sunday, June 14th, from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, under the shade of our majestic ancient oak trees — some of which have stood nearly as long as the nation itself.

The picnic will be held in the charming, covered Harriet Beecher Stowe Pavilion, modeled after the historic home style of the famous American author who spent her winters right here in Mandarin in the late 1800s. It’s the perfect setting for a true old-fashioned American gathering.

What’s Happening at the Picnic?
-A Star-Spangled Spread: Enjoy “All-American” classics like delicious fried chicken generously provided by Metro Diner Mandarin, Mac n Cheese from Mandarin Chick-fil-A, Potato Salad from Mandarin Beach Diner, along with hot dogs and other favorite picnic foods prepared by the Mandarin Community Club Board.
-Blue Bamboo’s Award-Winning Mandarin Orange Cake: Chef Dennis Chan will present his famous cake in a special patriotic edition, a sweet treat you won’t want to miss!
-Live Entertainment: Theatre Troupe 1776, the MCC’s in-house guest theatre company, will perform rousing patriotic songs for the crowd.
-Color Guard Presentation: The Jacksonville Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (the largest and oldest chapter in Florida) will proudly present the colors.

Interactive Fun for All Ages
-Sign the Declaration: Take your turn signing a replica of the Declaration of Independence and renew your personal commitment to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” for the next 250 years.
-Interactive Reading of the Declaration: Don’t miss the highlight of the day! An energetic, interactive reading of the famous document led by Thomas Jefferson himself! Guests are encouraged to boo loudly during the list of grievances against the King, just as colonists would have done in 1776.
-“We The People’s Choice” Pie Contest: Club Members can sign up to bring their best homemade pie to enter! Attendees will taste and vote for their favorites. Winners receive ultimate bragging rights, a beautiful ribbon, and an Amazon gift card.
