Patrick Gamman currently serves at the superintendent of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park located near Atlanta, GA. His previous assignment was as superintendent of John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Eastern Oregon. While being the Chief of Interpretation at Padre Island, Patrick had the opportunity to do a detail as the superintendent of Andrew Johnson National Historic Site.
Mr. Gamman began his career as a Student Conservation Association volunteer at Wind Cave National Park before holding multiple interpretive and backcountry positions at parks across the nation including Mount Rainier National Park, Denali National Park and Preserve, Fort Clatsop National Memorial (now Lewis and Clark National Historical Park), Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. He also served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines developing interpretive programming in cave national parks and spent time as a wildland firefighter and helitack on wildfire crews throughout the west.
Prior to his tenure at Padre Island National Seashore, Mr. Gamman served as a District Interpreter, Supervisory Park Ranger, at Cape Hatteras National Seashore responsible for the management of interpretive operations and programming for the Bodie Island, Ocracoke Island, and Hatteras Island Districts.
An Oregon native, Mr. Gamman graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Geology. While he has dedicated his career to the National Park Service, he takes every opportunity to enjoy the parks and outdoors – kayaking, hiking, and horseback riding.
