Patricia Smith’s career spans decades and genres and The Intentions of Thunder (Scribner, 2025), Smith’s newest publication, shortlisted for the 2025 National Book Award, features new and selected poetry in a celebration of her ever-evolving literary legacy. Joy Priest has described Patricia Smith as a poet who “writes so close to her characters, it’s as if she steps into their bodies, thinks through their minds, sees through their eyes.” Followed by a conversation led by students in Melissa Parrish’s ENG 303 class. Books will be sold and a signing will follow. Free & open to the public. Livestream also available on the BDPC YouTube page.
