Patio Picnic: Feast al Fresco

Step into the sunshine and celebrate the vibrant flavors of summer in this hands-on cooking class. Learn to create fresh, light, and colorful dishes designed for outdoor dining, from patios to picnics. Chef Instructor Shawnie Kelley guides you through each recipe, sharing techniques and flavor pairings that bring balance to every dish.

You work in a fast-paced, engaging kitchen environment while preparing a menu built around seasonal ingredients, citrus, and fresh herbs.

Dinner is served with wine in our Heidelberg Mixology Lab.

On the Menu:

• Grilled Mojito Chicken – citrus-marinated chicken with fresh mint and a hint of rum
• Charred Corn Maque Choux with Chili Lime Vinaigrette – smoky corn with a tangy, spiced dressing
• Avocado Tomato Citrus Salad – avocado, tomatoes, lime, and fresh herbs
• Grilled Fruit Shortcake Parfaits – grilled seasonal fruit, shortcake, and whipped cream

What to Wear:

• Wear long pants
• Flat, closed-toe shoes are required
• Sandals, flip-flops, and high heels are not permitted
• Long hair must be pulled back
• You will be standing and cooking for extended periods, so dress for comfort

Parking:
Parking directly behind Mitchell Hall is currently unavailable.

• Off-street parking in front of Mitchell Hall
• Lot directly across from Mitchell Hall (15-E, BEST), see posted campus map

A parking fee may apply. Visitors may park in any lot using the Parking.com app. Signs in each lot provide instructions for registering and payment.

Cancellation Policy (The Mix):
If you need to cancel your class booking, you can do so up to 48 hours before the class and receive a refund or class credit. If The Mix cancels a class for any reason, you will be notified immediately by phone or email and may switch to another class of equal value or receive a full refund.

All class reservations are first-come, first-served. No refunds are issued after a class has been held. The Mix reserves the right to substitute instructors or modify any class when necessary.
