Join Katie of betterfortheplanet on October 26th from 6-8pm.Making your own patch is an easy way to learn how to personalize your closet!
This class will be broken up into two parts.
PART 1: getting to know our materials, basic stitches, planning our patch.
PART 2: cutting and adhering our patches, placement, and using the stitches we learned to adhere the patches to our pieces
What to bring:
Anything in your closet made from natural fibers, think cotton and linen. We won’t be doing mending techniques, so avoid bringing something with large holes, but anything with stains or pulls can be patched over! Jeans, canvas tote bags, cotton sweatshirts, linen pieces. Betterfortheplanet encourages bringing things you already own, but if you don’t have these things we encourage you to shop secondhand before buying new.
NOTE: Please don't bring anything that is made from plastic, or stretchy. We’ll be using an iron for a small part of the patch making process and we don’t want anything to melt.
Materials provided:
Betterfortheplanet will have lots of fabric and scraps that we can use to create your patch. As well as a selection of embroidery floss to use as the stitching for the final product. There will be some lace and embellishments to use for our personalization stations! We'll talk about the interfacing that will be used in the class to create the bond from patch to piece.
If you have a piece of fabric or something you specifically want to make into a patch (ie like an old t-shirt that you want to take a piece from) please reach out to Katie on insta @betterfortheplanet and you can chat before the workshop!
NOTE: this is an intro workshop to appliqués and stitches so we plan on completing one to two small patches but leave with the skills to continue on at home!
Enjoy a grazing board while you work, accompanied by sparkling wine and mocktails. Join with friends or attend solo— you are sure have a lovely time and learn a new skill!
This ticket admits 1 person.
Admission includes materials and knowledge to create your own patch, small bites + 2 glasses of sparkling wine and/or sparkling water.
Please note: As this workshop is being hosted inside the retail area of Lichen, we ask that all attendees must purchase a ticket.
Must be 21+ years of age to consume alcohol. This is a non-refundable event.
