The UAF Student Ceramics Art Guild is thrilled to host renowned ceramic artist Sarah Beaty for two days of demonstrations and an artist talk!

Sarah is an incredible ceramic artist who works in high-fire porcelain and stoneware, and sheโll be sharing her techniques and creative journey with us! Her work has been featured in major collections, and she fires her pieces in a wood kiln near the Arctic Circle! ๐ฒ๐๐ฅ
This event is free and open to everyoneโstudents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community. Come learn, be inspired, and support the arts at UAF! ๐

About Sarah:
Sarah Beaty received a BA from Gonzaga University in 1997 and an MFA from the University of Iowa in 2001. She is a ceramic artist working with thrown, handbuilt or silp-cast high-fire porcelain and stoneware that she fires in a Phoenix fast-fire style wood kiln in Fort Yukon, 8 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Sarah has been an instructor, visiting artist, lecturer, and apprentice in Alaska, Iowa, and France. Her pieces are in numerous collections including the Alaska State Museum, the University of Iowa Museum of Art, and the Rogue's Gallery at Gonzaga University.ย
About SCAG:
SCAG is a vibrant group of UAF ceramic students and community members dedicated to sharing the art and craft of clay. This student-run club regularly hosts public presentations and workshops featuring world-renowned ceramic artists. In addition to these educational events, SCAG partners on fundraising efforts and community initiatives, including their popular pottery sales. These extracurricular experiences are open not only to students but also to the wider community, fostering creativity and connection through the ceramic arts.
