About this Event
Passed the Threshold, and Back
Presented by an ensemble of five of the region’s most accomplished actors/storytellers: Jamaal Akbari, Leah Cogan, Natalie Fraser, Julie Le Gal, and Peter Haworth, along with Chas Guay, musician.
In the great speech “To be or not to be”, Hamlet says of death, “The undiscover’d country, from whose bourn no traveler returns”.
But what if there are people who do return? Is that even possible? What would they tell us?
It is possible. There are many documented stories. And these stories have been studied at length. Wouldn’t you want to know what they have to say? Especially if their accounts are about the most beautiful, sublime and loving experiences that they have ever had.
Passed the Threshold, and Back is a play about people’s true-life stories of dying, passing the threshold, and returning to life. They might have been involved in a car accident, or became suddenly ill, had a heart attack, anything like that.
These true-to-life stories are told by actors.
Next what I saw was a body drifting submerged in the water. It was all very pleasant and peaceful I thought until I realized that that was me. But how can this be? I'm here, who is that then? I felt actually nothing toward my body except to say that that is my packaging.
This might seem a frightening thing to hear about, but each one of these detailed stories tell of the supreme joy, bliss and love they feel when they reach the other side.
I had a floating sensation as I felt myself get out of my body, and I looked back and I could see myself on the bed below and there was no fear. It was quiet—very peaceful and serene.
Presented by the actors, the accounts tell of the common stages people pass through. Leaving their body, seeing their life pass before their eyes, following a beautiful light, and meeting someone on the other side. And yet each story is quite different — because each person is different.
It's not any kind of light you can describe on earth. I didn't actually see a person in this light, and yet it has a special identity, it definitely does. It is a light of perfect understanding and perfect love.
In certain cases, there is proof of what happened.
And then, for some mysterious reasons, they are each told they must return to life. Why did they have to return?
Each reason is different. But perhaps one reason is so we can hear about what they encountered and feel reassured. So we don’t have to think about ourselves, and our loved ones, going to “We know not where”. (Shakespeare again.)
Many, if not most of those who had Near Death Experiences, did not want to return to the cares of their daily life on earth.
