Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, composed of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Since 2006, both McBrien and Hurley have recorded and performed together in various projects. Throughout his career, McBrien has always had an interest in folk music; writing many songs influenced by the Americana tradition.
In the fall of 2015, McBrien and Hurley began recording this material. These collaborative sessions at McBrien’s home - a small sheep farm in Marlborough, NH - were the impetus of what has become Party of the Sun. Since their inception, the band has released two full-length albums - Trekker and Fullest Hour, and five EPs - Lay Low, Goldenwood, and Capsule I, II, & III.
With coverage including Atwood Magazine, Under The Radar, Glide, UNXIGNED, For The Rabbits, and alexrainbirdMusic, Party of the Sun’s music has been described as heartfelt, warm, and meditative. Exploring themes of connectedness, time, and nature, Party of the Sun crafts timeless folk with nods to psychedelia and Americana.
Party of the Sun has been featured in television shows such as Deputy on Fox and Charmed on The CW. They have shared the stage with acts including Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Haley Heynderickx, William Tyler, Habibi, Robert Randolph, Footings, and more.
Advance Base is the melancholic soft rock recording project of Chicago, IL singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone). Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed ballads around his conversational baritone. The warm, electronic sound of Advance Base has been described as "lo-fi," "depressed" & "weirdly uplifting."
Horrible Occurrences, the fourth album of original songs by Advance Base, was released December 6, 2024 by Run For Cover Records / Orindal Records. In her Album of the Week review for Stereogum, Miranda Reinert writes: “(Ashworth’s) power as a songwriter has always been in the simple realism of the worlds he creates and the people who inhabit all of them.”
“It’s with no exaggeration we describe Owen Ashworth as one of the most consistent and important songwriters in contemporary indie music. From the earliest Casiotone For the Painfully Alone demos to most recent Advance Base single ‘Little Sable Point Lighthouse‘, Owen has crafted a catalogue of characters and circumstances with few rivals in the modern era. His is an ever evolving body of work which stands out in its deftness and humility and empathy and care, bringing to life individuals from across the spectrum of human experience while remaining unerringly attuned to the tender, fallible heart at the centre of each.” - Various Small Flames
Philadelphia-based indie folk artist Kristin Daelyn combines intricate fingerstyle guitar with poetic lyricism to create a world of nostalgia and introspection. Grounded in folk, her sound feels familiar but explorative, evoking quiet moments and a tender space for solace, presence, comfort and deep connection. The Philadelphia songwriter takes influence from solo guitarists like Leo Kottke and John Fahey as well as writers like Mary Oliver, whose poem “Patience” inspired the early single “Patience Comes to the Bones.” Through instrumental pieces that highlight her virtuosity as a player and elegant folk songs that showcase her gifts for tender pop melodies and emotionally incisive lyrics, Daelyn’s voice feels both urgent and timeless. Like a well-loved paperback passed between friends, her songs are open to reflection and personal annotation, designed to be of use.
Doors are at 7pm and music will begin at 730! Seating is first come first served!
Thanks to support from Savings Bank of Walpole, this show has an Access For All option which lets you name your price (you can't buy multiples of this option at the same time, so to buy more than one ticket, it is necessary to do each additional ticket in a different transaction).
