Part 1: American Mahjong 101

Join us at Bellingrath Gardens & Home for an introduction to American Mahjong. This two-part beginner series is designed for those who are new to the game or would like to build confidence at the table. Participants will learn the fundamentals of American Mahjong in a fun and supportive environment led by instructors affiliated with Mobile Mahjong of Mobile, Alabama.
During Part 1, guests will be introduced to the basics of gameplay, including how to read the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card, recognize suits, and understand the flow of play, including the Charleston, picking, and discarding.
All tiles, racks, and NMJL cards will be provided for both sessions.
Admission is $65.00 per person and includes both Part 1 and Part 2 of the series. There are no discounts for members, non-members, or employees. This program is open to adults only.
Advance registration and pre-payment are required. Space is limited to 32 participants to ensure personalized instruction, and registration will close on February 11 or when the class reaches capacity. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Registration is required no later than one week before the event date.
