Discover hidden history of Parkville, Mo, April 25, 2026 at 12 noon. Join us for a tour of two of Parkville's iconic Black History locations. The Banneker School at 31 W. 8th St and the Washington CME Chapel at 1137 West St in Parkville, Mo 64152 will be open to guests from noon to 2pm for a visit and discussion. Guides will be onsite to talk about the history of the area, the school and the church as well as their importance in building a community. Living descendants of the church and students who attended Banneker School will give first hand impressions of living and growing up in the area.
Start at Banneker School at 12 noon and then to Washington Chapel for refreshments. Park at Watkins Park or along West St. Walk to the School. After the discussion at the school, walk up to Washington Chapel for the second half of the tour.
