WALK NOTES: Steep slopes, breaks offered along the way, no dogs please (except service dogs), no washrooms

MEETING SPOT: The Southern Alberta Pioneers Memorial Building - 3625- 4 Street SW, Calgary, AB T2S 1Y3

Stop #1 - Southern Alberta Pioneers Log Building- built in 1922 to preserve the history of Pioneers

Stop #2 - Lindsay's Folly - Owned by Neville Lindsay, an early physician who tried to build one of Calgary's first mansions on the hill overlooking the Elbow River

Stop #3 - Parkhill School - built in 1912. It served as a school until 1977. The building was bought by Gregarian Developments in 1989 and converted into condominiums

Stop #4 - Ridge overlooking the Elbow River and Roxboro (Benches to sit and relax and enjoy the view - 10 Minute Break)

Stop #5 - Princess Obolensky Park - The small park was named after Princess Tania Obolensky, who, at 11 years old, fled Russia with her family during the revolution in 1917. She and her husband, Austrian count Leo Von Kunigl, emigrated to Canada in 1931 and lived at the Bow River Ranch south of Calgary and in 1952 she opened a very successful women's boutique.

Stop #6 - The ridge view of Mission Bridge and the entire Downtown and surrounding area of Calgary with Stairway leading to 4th Street

YOUR WALK LEADER: Heather Ross is a historical walking enthusiast with a background in marketing and media. She has a B.A. in Communications & Culture from the University of Calgary. She believes the vision, pioneering spirit, architecture, successes and failures of our past should be remembered and learned from to help shape and enhance our future as society continues to move forward.
