About this Event
Join us from the 23-25th of September 2024 for our PNMUK Annual Symposium. This residential event takes place in the beautiful surroundings of The Hayes Conference Centre, Derbyshire. The theme for our 2024 Symposium is ‘The Gift of Time’, reflecting on the time you give as parish nurses in your ministry. The Programme offers current parish nurses, - a time of refreshment and renewal, alongside opportunities for sessions focused on continued professional development and networking.
The 3 days give you an opportunity to have time to step aside from your busy lives, and hear a variety of inspiring, and authoritative speakers. It is also a brilliant way to refresh your skills and knowledge and connect and network, with the national parish nursing community. The Programme has been designed to give you space to be refreshed, restored and to ‘rebalance’ spiritually and physically.
On your arrival after 3pm on 23/9/24, you will be greeted with much needed refreshments! During your time at Swanwick, there will be space to meet peers and enjoy Christian fellowship, take time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings… or even explore the gym! Our hope too is that the programme will inspire and reequip you for your Parish Nursing ministry.
The Programme starts off on Monday with a reflective talk from our Trustee – Revd Jonathan Edwards, followed by a time of worship and networking. On Tuesday we will be joined by speakers Dr Rachel Daley (Academy Lead Admiral Nurse, Dementia UK) leading a ‘Dementia -shared decision-making, workshop’ and Henreitta Bankas (Head of Portfolio - Blended Learning - AHP and Advancing Practice & Ph*rm*cy, WT&E NHS England,) running a session on ‘Wellbeing and the Mental Health of Nurses’ and Child & adolescent mental health.
On Tuesday afternoon you can enjoy much needed free time! During the afternoon we also offer once again a ‘Basic Life Support Training Workshop’ led by Nick Thompson. Resuscitation Practitioner, UK Resuscitation Council Instructor.
After the Refreshment break a Reflective Session rounds off the afternoon with an informal’ Parish Nurse Story Telling and Testimonies’ - in an open mic session.
On Wednesday we will be hearing from Dr Jo Corlett (Reader, School of Health Sciences, University of Dundee), about her research into ‘Student placements in parish nursing’, followed by an update by Pam D’Andre on ‘Faith Community Nursing around the world’ and the ‘European Symposium 2025’.
Our 2024 Symposium closes with a ‘Commissioning and Blessing’ for the year ahead from PNMUK Trustee Father Damian.
Full board and accommodation are included in the price.
The event finishes after lunch on Wednesday 25th September
