This course explores the intriguing intersection of psychology and the paranormal, emphasizing the role of mental health providers in acknowledging the potential trauma, depression, and anxiety experienced by witnesses of unexplained events. It aims to offer an overview of how such events impact individuals on both macro and micro levels, assist therapists in recognizing unexplained phenomena, and help identify therapists’ internal biases, all crucial for delivering optimal care to clients.
About the Presenter:
Alexis is a licensed Creative Arts Therapist (she/her/hers) who believes in living a fulfilling life by accessing one’s authentic self and shedding personas adopted to please others. She works with clients to form a therapeutic alliance, helping them reclaim their lives from societal expectations and embrace their true values and stories.
Alexis graduated with a master’s degree from Seton Hill College in 2018. After spending a year as a museum custodian, she entered the field in 2019. Since then, she has been honored to join her clients on their therapeutic journeys.
As a Queer therapist, Alexis proudly serves her community by providing Gender Affirming care, tackling internalized homophobia, assisting with transitioning and coming out, offering education, and bringing a great sense of humor. She understands that many individuals grew up in environments where being themselves wasn’t an option, leading to internalized struggles. Her focus is reducing internalized homophobia, and helping clients accept and embrace their true selves.
