About this Event
Paper Masks
Workshop for participants will dive into the vibrant world of Mexican Day of the Dead by creating their unique paper masks.
Overview:
The decorated skulls, or Calaveras, are perhaps the most iconic symbols of the Day of the Dead. Calaveras symbolise death and celebrate life; they are a way to honour the departed. In this workshop, participants will design their unique skull masks, using traditional motifs and personal creativity to reflect the spirit of this event.
Objectives:
- Participants will learn about the cultural significance of the Day of the Dead and the symbolism behind traditional motifs and colours.
- Encourage participants to explore their creativity by designing a unique skull mask, blending traditional elements with personal meaning.
- Promote self-reflection by encouraging participants to think about who or what their mask represents and how it reflects their feelings about life, death, and celebration.
- This workshop is suitable for children 6+ years. Adult assistance may be required for younger learners.
- Materials, guidance and instructions included in the ticket price.
- All workshop participants require a ticket.
- There are only 10 places per workshop.
