About this Event
Join us for a panel discussion with Jonathan Hill and staff from the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society about the creation of our new graphic novel on the American Revolution in Northampton County. Developed using new scholarly research on eighteenth-century Northampton County, the graphic novel will be distributed to middle school students throughout the county, offering an engaging new way for younger generations to connect with local history.
Jonathan Hill is an award-winning cartoonist, author, and illustrator from Portland, Oregon, known for his graphic novels and teaching work in comics and visual narrative. A graduate and valedictorian of the Savannah College of Art and Design, he has worked with clients including Microsoft and Dark Horse Comics. His books, published by companies such as First Second Books and Candlewick Press, have received major honors, including the Carla Cohen Free Speech Award and the Believer Book Award for Graphic Literature. Hill also spent more than a decade teaching comics and illustration and continues to serve in arts education and literary organizations.
The graphic novel is funded through a grant from the A.P. Kirby Foundation.
