About this Event
P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Donna Bulseco to discuss and celebrate the publication of her book, : candid literary accounts by doctors, nurses, and other healers shed light on the intense challenges and triumphs of medical life, reflecting the resilience, ingenuity, and compassion they use to get by.
Donna will be joined by a panel of medical professionals and healers who contributed to the collection. After the conversation and audience Q&A, they will be signing books.
Tickets and books are available both on eventbrite and at the door. Doors will open at 6:30, with the talk starting closer to 7pm.
ABOUT THE EDITOR:
Donna Bulseco is the editor-in-chief of the journal of narrative medicine Intima and a longtime journalist and editor. She has graduate degrees in English literature from Brown University and narrative medicine from Columbia University. She is an editor and contributor to publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Self, InStyle, the Purist, and others.
ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORS:
XI CHEN is an internal medicine doctor at NYU Langone. His essays have appeared in The Guardian, Ploughshares, The Rumpus, and Scientific American. He is currently revising his debut book, Dot Dot Dot, a novel about a Chinese-American man who renounces the world after the death of his best friend. Essay: The Halo
RACHEL KOWALSKY is a first-generation Guatemalan American writer and pediatric emergency physician in New York City. She is also a four-time Pushcart Prize nominee and winner of the inaugural New England Journal of Medicine short story prize. Learn more about her work at rachelkowalskymd.com. JORDANA KRITZER is a graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where she first combined her passions for science and storytelling. After years of directing plays in New York City, she found her way to emergency medicine and completed her training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she was named the 2015 EM Physician of the Year. Kritzer is now a board-certified assistant professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a member of the Leo M. Davidoff Society for excellence in teaching. Essay: A Shot of Perspective
ANGELICA RECIERDO is the author of the poetry chapbook One Last Ripe Life, and a journalism and health impact fellow at the University of Toronto. She earned an MS in narrative medicine from Columbia University, a BS in nursing from Northeastern University, and an MFA in creative writing from Dominican University of California. - This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating.
- Doors open at 6:30pm, with the talk starting around 7:00pm.
- Books will be available for purchase at the event.
- Cost of a book bundle ticket reflects the total cost of the feature event book (MSRP plus tax). Each book bundle ticket guarantees ticket holders one (1) copy of the feature event book.
