We're hosting a panel with Dr. Lester Young

The Center for Integrated Training and Education (CITE) and Dr. Lester Young, Chancellor (President) of the New York State Board of Regents, are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity exclusively for CITE students and alumni to engage with Dr. Young regarding the Board of Regents Grad Measures Initiative and the PLAN Pilot (in short, the Board of Regents' draft plans to alter graduation requirements and Regents exams).

What is this Pilot about?

This pilot project explores performance-based learning and assessment approaches that can be implemented across a diverse range of schools—urban and rural, large and small, with varied student demographics—and how to support these schools in making a successful transition.

What does this event entail?

As the Board considers these changes, Dr. Young is actively engaged in gathering input from the field and he personally called to request a meeting with CITE students and alumni new and aspiring leaders. The meeting structure will include a panel discussion with Dr. Young and a Q&A session with the audience. The panelists are each current or recent alumni of CITE programs including our doctoral and SBL/SDL programs.

Who is invited?

As a benefit of being a CITE student or CITE graduate, you are cordially invited to attend and participate in this event, free of charge. This meeting is an amazing opportunity hear directly from Dr. Young and make your voice heard at the local and state level in ways that will benefit the entire educational community and in fact your students.

What other benefits are there for attendees?

If you are a current CITE student, the following alternatives to assignments are offered as a result of attendance at this meeting:

• Students who sign in at the event will be awarded 5 hours towards their PSEL standard of choice, provided they create a document that explains how the information they heard/discussed in the meeting fits into that standard and provides this document in their internship portfolio; and
• Attendance at this meeting will count as one of the mandatory five (5) seminars that students must attend during ED 608 to qualify for completion of the program.

Additionally,

• All attendees will be awarded five (5) hours of CTLE credit (all teachers and school leaders must attain 100 CTLE hours every five (5) years in order to maintain their certification see: CTLE Requirements for NYS Educators).
