PAMWE MARIMBA and SUPA!

Meet Pamwe Marimba! A brand new marimba ensemble comprised of 8 passionate musicians, hailing from all corners of the country including New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Montana. Originally brought together in Polyphony Marimba, we are a band united by our shared love for Zimbabwean marimba music. Now, as Pamwe Marimba, we embark on a new chapter of our journey together! We present a wide variety of sounds, ranging from traditional Shona music to our own original compositions. Each piece celebrates the marimba's versatility and reflects the diverse musical backgrounds of our band members.

SUPA! is a Boulder-based marimba band fusing diverse styles of traditional and contemporary Zimbabwean-style music. We draw inspiration from legendary Zimbabwean musicians such as Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mtukudzi, and Stella Chiweshe, and each of our pieces reflects different strands of Shona music. We are high-energy, fast-paced, and improvisational, and all of our songs are infused with our members’ passion for what we play. SUPA! recorded our first album in January and we are incredibly excited to share our music with you.”
