About the speaker:
Roy Petersen is a filmmaker and digital artist dedicated to bringing people together to produce creative, community-driven storytelling solutions. As the Senior Creative Curriculum Designer & Digital Media Specialist at William & Mary’s Studio for Teaching & Learning Innovation, Roy catalyzes community by directing impactful educational media and leading "Story School," a program that empowers students to discover and share their own creative voices. His diverse professional background spans producing corporate films for major organizations like Transport for London to self-funding the award-winning independent documentary *Lakeland: The Movie*, which has garnered over 300,000 views online.
Driven by an improvisational spirit, Roy excels at creating spaces that foster collective wonder and connection both inside and outside the studio. He is the creator and Doodle Sheriff of *Doodlefest*, a multi-venue festival in Virginia designed to unite local artists, galleries, and businesses through visual engagement. Whether he is recording a collaborative student podcast, partnering with global creativity experts, or just doodling with friends at cafes, Roy’s work focuses on unlocking human connection and building vibrant, shared experiences.
