17.00 Concert from Palisander: 'Playbook Live!' at All Saints, Nettleham Parish Church
Palisander Playbook Live! event days are celebrating the upcoming launch of the new recorder ensemble sheet music range, 'Palisander Playbook.'
Both parts of the day will draw repertoire from the new editions, which include arrangements of medieval, renaissance and baroque music for recorder ensemble, alongside new compositions inspired by the historical art of consort writing. Palisander Playbook will feature compositions and arrangements by ensemble member Miriam Monaghan, who has coordinated repertoire for Palisander since the ensemble's launch.
The playing day will be led by the four members of Palisander, who have a wealth of tutoring experience between them: from SRP playing days to courses and festivals. The arrangements will be suitable for intermediate - advanced players, roughly the standard of an SRP playing day. All of the repertoire featured will be from Palisander Playbook, and will include several brand new arrangements for this series of events.
The second part of the day comprises a one hour concert from Palisander, included in the playing day event booking and additionally open to members of the public. ‘Palisander Playbook Live!’ celebrates all things recorder-ensemble, showcasing instruments 6 inch to 6 feet tall, through 900 years worth of repertoire, including several new editions published through Palisander Playbook. Separate to the large ensemble pieces worked on during the day, the concert will debut several arrangements of historical repertoire, including a medieval Trotto and dances from the Brussels Manuscript (1450) not previously available for recorder ensembles. The programme acts as a comprehensive overview of the recorder’s rich history, with some unique new settings- such as an ancient Sami reindeer call, and a 4x voice and 4x recorder reimagining of Richard Deering's’ Cryes of London.
To note:
Players will need to bring a music stand, and all the sizes of recorder you would like to play. There will be a range of instrumentations used, involving descant - contrabass.
There will not be access to tea and coffee making facilities during the playing day. Participants are encouraged to bring refreshments and lunch.
Many of the new Playbook editions will be available for purchase on the day
There are two car parks avalable for use: Musland Park, of Field Close and the Old School
