Tracing the evolution of agave through ancient Mexican art and fine spirits.
The perfect date night, BFF outing, or solo adventure awaits you at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Indulge in an immersive tequila tasting class that celebrates the rich heritage of West Mexican culture, perfectly complementing the art on view in the new Mexican and South & Central American art galleries.
Explore the artistry and tradition behind four distinctive tequila varieties: Silver, Añejo, Reposado, and Mezcal. Guided by Rob Dutton, a WSET Agave Master Certification recipient, and Sheral Schowe, founder and owner of Wasatch Academy of Wine, LLC, you’ll uncover the unique flavors and stories that trace their roots to ancient west Mexican practices, offering a deeper connection to the exhibit's cultural narrative. Luke Kelly, associate curator of collections at the UMFA, will offer an enlightening presentation tracing the evolution of agave through ancient Mexican art on view at the Museum. Then, with newfound knowledge, you’ll venture into the galleries and experience the art for yourself.
This flavorful journey promises to be a feast for the senses and an enriching extension of the museum experience. The tequila tasting will be paired with gourmet refreshments provided by Cuisine Unlimited will accompany the wine tasting.
