Painting with Natural Pigments
About this Event
You have permission to smash fruit, make colorful marks, and experiment freely at this all-ages workshop at Oxbow. We believe everyone is creative, and we invite you to play with natural materials, follow your curiosity, and engage your senses in a welcoming outdoor setting. Along the way, you’ll make art alongside others while discovering playful, approachable ways to connect with the natural world through creativity and self-expression.
YOU'LL EXPERIENCE:
- Natural Pigments: Create colorful paints from fresh berries and fruit using simple techniques you can recreate at home or in the classroom.
- Sensory Art-Making: Experiment with texture, layering, brushwork, and mark-making while exploring how natural pigments look, feel, and move across the page.
- Creative Connection: Make art alongside people of all ages while experimenting with overlooked natural materials in a welcoming space that encourages curiosity, silliness, and joyful self-expression.
ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR

For the past four years, she has worked for Oxbow in native plant propagation, sales, and education, helping people connect more deeply with the natural world through gardening, restoration, plant knowledge, and art. Cherie’s teaching style is interactive, curiosity-led, and welcoming to all experience levels. She believes creativity belongs to everyone and is excited to explore the beginner-friendly practice of making paint from plants alongside participants.
