Painted Window Screen Workshop with Paul Dorr at the Castle
Ages 10+ on July 25th at 1PM thru 4PM.
Baltimore Window Screen Painting has been around for more than a century (1913) and is an art form that is unique to only Baltimore.
This workshop will include the following:
1. Tour of the new Art Gallery Café Space and Historic Castle Building dedicated to Baltimore’s Painted Window Screen Art. Many Painted Screens on display to view. (Old and New)
2. Viewing of a short film on the history of painted screens and the early painted screen artists.
3. Demonstration of the process and various painted screen techniques.
4. You will have an opportunity to paint your own screen. Multiple screen art images will be available to pick from including pre-drawn screen images.
5. Refreshments, pre-packaged snacks including a large variety of coffees, Teas are included in the cost of the workshop.
About the Artist:
Paul was born, raised, and educated within Baltimore City. Began his Art career by designing traffic signals for Baltimore City Transit and Traffic / DOT where he met Tom Lipka, one of a few master screen painters. Paul got the painted screen bug in the late 80’s and continues to appreciate the art including collecting other screen painter's work and teaching the art form. (a great form of free public art for anyone to see and enjoy).
