Ahmedabad, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage City in 2017, is renowned for its rich architectural heritage and cultural significance, showcasing a blend of Indo-Islamic architecture and vibrant local traditions.
Born in Patan, Gujarat, Sandip Prajapati has always been fascinated by the rich history and culture of the region.
An architect by profession, he uses his knowledge of design and structure to capture the essence of the pol houses. Pol houses are traditional residential buildings that are clustered around narrow streets and courtyards in the old city of Ahmedabad. They date back to the 18th century and reflect the influence of various communities and religions that coexisted in the city. Pol houses are known for their intricate wooden carvings, ornamental facades, and colorful decorations. They are also a living testimony of the social and harmony that prevailed in the city.
