Come hang out downtown and make some art on September 12th!
WHAT IS IT? We’re inviting painters, sketchers, doodlers, and all other kinds of artists to spend the morning making "plein air" art in downtown Charles Town. Plein air is a French term for painting outdoors: observing and capturing scenes from real life!
We want this to be a meetup for artists of all ages and skillsets + inspire new pieces of art that capture the beauty of our sweet lil’ downtown! Free & self directed: you decide where and when you'd like to paint.
NOT AN ARTIST? Just come by for the fun and support your local arts scene! Meet your new favorite artist, get inspired, and cultivate a new eye for the beautiful spaces around you.

ACTIVITIES
The Charles Town Farmers Market will be joined by the Jefferson Arts Council. Learn about their organization and see local artists at work. The farmers market goes from 9am-12pm on South Samuel St.
Bushel & Peck + Ortega’s Taco Shop + Rainbow Montessori: Paradise Alley at Ortega’s will be an art station with FREE art activities for kids, led by Rainbow Montessori School. Face painting will be set up at B&P. (**Sponsored by the Jefferson Arts Council!**)
Prismatic Art Studio: Art activities and Dopamine Menu available all day. If you want to get creative but don’t consider yourself an artist, stop by the studio - they have arts & crafts activities for all ages and skill levels.
FOR ARTISTS
WHAT SHOULD I PAINT? Farmers market scenes, historical landmark buildings, downtown greenery & planters, street trees, storefronts, a portrait of your friend, your cappuccino, live musicians at CTFM, mosaic on Charles Street, breakfast burrito… whatever you would like!
We’ll list locations throughout town where you can refill water for paintbrushes + a paintbrush wash station
