Paint the Town Block pARTy 2026
Taking place on Main and Liberty Street from 5PM to 9PM, Paint the Town will feature activities, such as live painting with plein air painters, David Zinn creating imaginative chalk creations with chalk available to create side by side, live music with DJ Batz, Ain’t Dead Yet, and Whoa Silent Disco, restaurant patios spilling into the streets, tile painting demonstrations with Motawi Tilework, animals with the Hands on Museum and Leslie Science & Nature Center, try your hand at some street pickleball, and much more! The event aims to inspire artistic expression while strengthening community engagement - enjoying the downtown streets of Ann Arbor when they are closed in preparation for the 2026 Ann Arbor Art Fair.
“Paint the Town is more than an art event—it’s an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and celebrate the creative community of Ann Arbor,” said Karen Bauer, Executive Director of The Guild of Artists and Artisans. “We are thrilled to welcome the community for an evening filled with color, creativity, and fun. A great way to kick-off the 2026 Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair!”
Attendees will have the opportunity to get creative through various arts engagements, dance in the streets while enjoying live music, and enjoy the local restaurants and social district that are spread throughout the Block pARTy. In addition to Paint the Town Block pARTy, the event connects to the Ann Arbor City pARTy on Liberty between 5th Ave. and Division and Dart for Art run and pARTy which ends on Liberty near Division. The inaugural City pARTy will feature a fire department spray pARTy from 5pm - 7pm, police vehicles, and public works touch a truck.
Admission is free. A full list of activities and more information can be found at: https://www.theannarborartfair.com/kickoff-events#paint-town. Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in this unique celebration of art and culture.
The event is presented by The Guild of Artists and Artisans, Main Street Area Association, The State Street District, and Michigan Schools & Government Credit Union.
