Pain Mastery integrating ACT and Lifestyle medicine in clinical practice
About this Event
3-Day Course for Clinicians Managing Persistent Pain
This three-day course is designed for clinicians who work with pediatric or adult patients experiencing persistent pain and who may feel frustrated or uncertain about how best to support patients with complex, ongoing symptoms.
This is a trauma-informed course that explores the relationship between trauma, the nervous system, and the body. We will take the time to understand how the effects of trauma can influence pain and other symptoms, and how these experiences may present in the clinical setting.
The course will provide a practical framework for patient management, integrating the pillars of Lifestyle Medicine with principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The goal is to help clinicians develop a more comprehensive, compassionate, and effective approach to working with patients with persistent pain.
A strong emphasis will be placed on hands-on learning and skills practice. Participants will have dedicated time to practice the tools and techniques introduced throughout the course, discuss real-world challenges, and build confidence in applying these approaches in clinical practice.
We will also work through case studies, creating opportunities to explore complex clinical scenarios, share perspectives, and process challenges together as a group.
Before and After the Course
Participants will complete pre-course reading to establish a foundation for the material covered during the three-day course.
Learning and support will continue beyond the in-person training. Following the course, participants will have access to a three-month online mentorship program, providing an opportunity to discuss complex or challenging patients, troubleshoot clinical situations, and receive ongoing guidance as they apply their learning in practice.
This course is designed not only to provide knowledge, but to give clinicians practical skills, a clear framework, and continued support to approach persistent pain with greater confidence, compassion, and effectiveness.
Lunch will be provided on Oct 24th and 25th. We will also serve a light dinner on Oct 23rd.
