A one-day writing retreat exploring the science of writing, the practice of listening, and the beauty of encountering God on the page.
About this Event

We believe writing is more than a skill.

It can be an invitation.

An invitation to slow down. To pay attention. To hear what’s happening inside of us—and to listen for the voice of God.

There is something powerful that happens when pen touches paper. Our thinking slows and sharpens. Thoughts that felt tangled begin to take shape. We notice things we may have otherwise missed.

And when we bring that simple practice into our relationship with God, the blank page can become something more: a place to listen, pray, process, remember, and connect.

Pages of Prayer is a one-day retreat designed to help you discover writing as a practical, life-giving way to encounter God.

Throughout the day, three speakers will guide us through the why and how of writing and listening, with plenty of space to actually practice it for yourself.

THE SCIENCE OF WRITING

with Gina Mitchell

What actually happens when pen touches paper?

Gina will take us on a fascinating journey into the science behind writing by hand—exploring how the brain responds when we put our thoughts onto a page and why writing can help us slow down, process, remember, and think more clearly.

You'll walk away with a deeper understanding of why this remarkably simple practice can have such a powerful effect on the way we think and process our lives.

THE PRACTICE OF LISTENING
with Kristi Foreman

What does it look like to make space to hear from God—without turning it into one more thing we have to get right?

Kristi will lead us into the practice of listening: exploring some of the barriers that can make hearing God feel difficult, learning to recognize His invitation, and discovering how writing can become a vehicle for prayer and connection.

This isn't about striving harder to hear the "right" thing.

It's about leaving the striving at the door and learning to create space for peace, presence, and relationship with God.

THE PRACTICE OF THE PAGE

with Sara Reyes

Through simple, approachable writing exercises, Sara will help us put everything we've been learning into practice—using the page as a place to pray, listen, notice, remember, and respond to God.

Along the way, she'll share stories about why the words we write matter—not only because they help us recognize what God is doing in our own hearts, but because our words and stories can become gifts to the people around us.

You don't need to know what to write.

You don't even need to consider yourself a writer.

You just need a pen, a page, and a willingness to begin.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A "WRITER"

Maybe you fill journals from cover to cover.

Maybe you haven't written anything longer than a grocery list in years.

You belong here either way.

Pages of Prayer isn't about becoming a better writer or producing something impressive. It's about discovering what can happen when we slow down long enough to listen—and give ourselves permission to put what we hear onto the page.

Through teaching, practical tools, guided exercises, quiet reflection, and time to write, our hope is that you leave with more than notes from a retreat.

We hope you leave with a practice you can carry home.

A blank page that no longer feels quite so blank.

A pen you know how to pick up.

And a new way to listen, write, and encounter God.
