Why we need to take action
Recently, across the Northern Hemisphere, extreme heat and fires have taken thousands of lives. In Australia, worsening droughts, fires and floods are also taking lives, destroying homes, livelihoods and communities.
When burned, coal from Newcastle produces nearly 1% of carbon emissions - FROM THE ENTIRE WORLD! FROM EVERY SINGLE SOURCE!
Our coal exports are a climate problem of global significance!
Because, as Sir David Attenborough says: "Right now, we are facing a disaster of global scale. Our greatest threat in thousands of years. Climate change.”
But the solution starts here. We need a fast, fair and fully funded transition to new jobs and industries across Newcastle and the Hunter.
Are you in? Book your spot today!
‼️ Please note: this is not a blockade and there will be no arrests.
