Protecting our waterways takes more than one organization, one cleanup, or one group of volunteers. It takes a community willing to show up and play a part.
On October 3, we're bringing that community together.
Whether you paddle, boat, walk the shoreline, or volunteer from land, there's a role for you in protecting the waters we all love.
There's multiple ways to volunteer!
🚣 PADDLE β€” Explore designated cleanup areas by kayak, paddleboard or canoe and help remove marine debris from mangroves, shallow shorelines and waterways.
🚀 BRING YOUR BOAT β€” We're looking for volunteer boat captains and crews to support paddlers and serve as on-water debris collection stations throughout the cleanup.
πŸ–οΈ WALK THE BEACH β€” Join our land-based teams and help clean the shoreline of Stump Pass Beach State Park following the morning sea turtle patrol.
πŸ™Œ HELP ON LAND β€” Volunteer with check-in, supplies, debris tracking, participant support and other event-day operations.
πŸ“Έ HELP TELL THE STORY β€” Photographers and media volunteers are also needed to document the impact our community makes together.
πŸ›Ÿ BOATING SAFETY, TOO!
The Englewood Coast Guard Auxiliary will be joining us to support on-water safety.
🌿 WHY WE'RE DOING IT
This isn't just about how many bags of debris we collect.
It's about bringing paddlers, boaters, conservation organizations and community members together to care for the waters, wildlife and habitats that make Lemon Bay so special.
Marine debris can threaten manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, shorebirds and other wildlife.
πŸ™Œ EVENT DETAILS
πŸ—ΊοΈ Get the Game Plan! Captains & volunteers are invited to our virtual event kickoff Sept. 30 at 5 PM. We'll talk routes, roles, safety and everything you need for a great day on the water. Check your confirmation email for the Zoom link.
πŸ“… Saturday, October 3, 2026
πŸ“ Stump Pass Beach State Park
⏰ Approximately 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
β˜• START THE MORNING WITH COFFEE & COMMUNITY
We'll have fresh coffee waiting for our volunteers, generously provided by Dearborn Coffeehouse, before everyone heads out to their cleanup zones.
πŸ† AND THEN... WE CELEBRATE!
After the cleanup, join us at the sandbar beginning at 1:00 PM to celebrate what our community accomplished together!
We'll share stories from the day, recognize some of our incredible volunteers, and hand out some fun cleanup awardsβ€”including awards for the most interesting finds and standout stewardship efforts.
Bring your photos, your stories, and your best cleanup finds because we want to hear what your team discovered!
It's our chance to get off the cleanup routes, come together as one group, and celebrate the people who showed up for Lemon Bay.
🌊 Clean together. Protect together. Celebrate together.
Arrival times will vary by volunteer role. Registered volunteers will receive their specific check-in time, maps, safety information and additional event details before the cleanup.
⚠️ FACEBOOK β€œGOING” DOES NOT REGISTER YOU
Because this is a coordinated on-water event, advance registration is required for all volunteers. Please RSVP & bring your friends.
