Hey y'all! We are excited to be renting kayaks for Pack & Paddle's annual Black Friday Paddle Trip on Bayou Vermilion! This is a free event so if you have your own kayak, come on out! Pack & Paddle along with Wanderlust Rentals has a select number of kayaks for rent as well. And as a plus, plan to head to Pack & Paddle after the event for a free meal! Kayak drop off is from 8-8:30 and actual paddle will begin at 9:30. If renting with Wanderlust Rentals, we will have your kayak, paddle, and life jacket waiting for you at Beaver Park for 9:30. We will pick up from Camellia Bridge at the end of the paddle. Let's make this year's event the best one yet! You can find all the details below. Come join Pack and Paddle and Acadiana area community paddlers on the Vermilion River in Lafayette to enjoy this local paddling spot with family and friends.
We envision this trip as a great way to get families and friends together to make memories and enjoy each other. While the rest of the world goes crazy shopping at the stores, you can relax on the river! Our route will take us from Beaver Park to Camellia Bridge - a 5 mile float/paddle down the Vermilion River with the current. After arriving at the floating dock by Camellia Bridge (or Rotary Point), paddlers can load up boats on their vehicles, and head over to Pack and Paddle store at 601 E Pinhook Rd in Lafayette for a free lunch (likely gumbo). Please join us for this fun float trip!
Launch site: Beaver Park Boat Launch, 500 Plantation Rd, Lafayette, LA
Take-out site: floating dock by Camellia Blvd bridge, via end of Cambridge Dr, to the turn-around at the end of Bellaire Rd, Lafayette.
Note: For those wanting a shorter paddle trip, there is Rotary Point boat ramp off of W Bayou Parkway that is an option for put-in or take-out. Still need to leave a vehicle at your take-out spot.
Pre-trip vehicle shuttle: After unloading kayaks & gear at launch site in the morning, all of the drivers will do a vehicle shuttle to get as many vehicles down to the take-out site. We will work together to have a few vehicles bring drivers back to the launch site. Non-drivers to stay at the launch site with the boats during the pre-trip shuttle.
Price: This is a FREE trip for those that have their own kayak, canoe or paddle craft. If you would like to rent a kayak, we have a few that we will be providing for a nominal cost - and weβll bring it to the paddle and pick it up afterwards!
