Join me for a photo walk through Pacifica’s Sharp Park. We’ll explore light, color, and seaside architecture - Max 8 Participants
About this Event

Sharp Park doesn’t shout for attention. It reveals itself slowly. At first glance, it can seem quiet, modest, and a little worn by the elements. But once you begin to observe, you start to notice just how much there is to photograph.

Ocean light, faded color, weathered surfaces, and seaside buildings come together in ways that reward careful looking. We’ll use our cameras—or phones—to slow down and look more carefully.

You’ll get guidance throughout on what to notice, how to compose, and how to translate what you see into a photograph. By photographing in a small group (max 8), you’ll also learn by seeing how others approach the same subject. After the walk, I’ll send a link so attendees can share photos with one another, and I’ll also host an online photo review session.

What we’ll explore and photograph

  • Seaside architecture
Beach cottages, modest apartment buildings, garages, facades, and architectural details shaped by life near the ocean. A chance to photograph form, repetition, proportion, and character.
  • Color and weathered surfaces
Sun-faded paint, salt-worn materials, signage, fences, and small details give the neighborhood its visual texture. Murals, gardens, and other hidden artistic touches add bursts of personality along the way. A chance to explore color relationships, texture, abstraction, and small visual surprises.
  • Pier, fishing and the oceanfront
The pier, shoreline, ocean views, and the visual contrast between built forms and open water. Often, the folks fishing off the pier are happy to engage with photographers, making for fun portraits or a chance to try a bit of street photography.

Walk at a glance

  • Distance: 2 to 2.5 miles at a relaxed pace
  • Terrain: mostly flat sidewalks and paved paths
  • Weather: Come prepared for changing Bay Area coastal conditions—direct sun, breezes, or cold fog. A hat, light layer, and sunscreen are recommended.
  • Cameras & Coffee: Photo walks are a great way to meet other photographers. Come 30 minutes early to grab a coffee with other early birds, or stay after for a bite to eat. Coffee and food are not included in the price.
  • Meeting place & start time: We'll start outside Cafe Pacifica, 1821 Palmetto Ave, Pacifica, CA 94044. Please arrive a few minutes early; the walk begins on time or within 5 minutes of the posted start time.

Need help getting ready for the walk? If you’d like help understanding your camera or settings beforehand, get in touch about a one-on-one lesson. Book a lesson before the walk, and I’ll deduct the cost of the walk from the lesson fee.
