About this Event

Buying a small business could be your next big opportunity! Did you know that 76% of Canadian business owners plan to leave their business in the next 10 years, and more than half say their biggest challenge is finding the right buyer?

Futurpreneur’s #OwnersWanted can help you get started on the path to small business success.

This event will help you get ready for your next step.

During this session, you’ll:

  • Explore how buying a business works
  • Discover tools and resources to guide your journey
  • Learn what to avoid, and where to put your energy
  • Create an action plan to take the next step

We'll have guest speakers Carol and Erin who will explore some of the less obvious risks that can surface before, during, and after a business changes hands.

Questions to consider: What stops working when the current owner leaves? Where does critical knowledge live? Which relationships may not automatically transfer? What needs to happen during the handoff? And once you take over, how do you know what to change, what to protect, and what can wait?

The session will focus on three simple ideas:

  • Before: See the real business
  • During: Transfer what matters
  • After: Lead before you change

The goal is to help prospective buyers look beyond the transaction and think about the people, relationships, systems, knowledge, and transition they are actually inheriting.
