A powerful session on the energy industry's role in prevention and community impact
About this Event

Human trafficking is a complex issue affecting communities across Canada, including those connected to resource development, transportation corridors, and workforce hubs. As leaders and professionals in Canada's energy sector, we have an opportunity to better understand this issue, support prevention efforts, and contribute to safer, stronger communities. Join Canadian Women in Energy for an important conversation focused on raising awareness, understanding the realities of human trafficking, and exploring how individuals, businesses, and communities can take meaningful action.

Featuring Paul Brandt, Founder of #NotInMyCity, and Susannah Pierce, Co-Chair of the Human Trafficking Prevention Network of BC and former President & Country Chair of Shell Canada, this session will provide insights into the scope and impact of human trafficking in Canada, the importance of education and awareness, and the role industry leaders and organizations can play in supporting prevention and community action.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the warning signs of human trafficking, learn about initiatives working to address the issue, and leave with practical resources to support continued learning and engagement. Whether you are new to the topic or looking to expand your understanding, this session offers an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and participate in a meaningful discussion on an issue that affects communities across the country.
